SCOPUS is the largest bibliographic database with citations and abstracts. It contains nearly 250 million article references from 18 000 journals (16 500 peer-reviewed journals) and more than 3,6 million conference papers. You can create your account, to define you personal profile and to save researche, alerts, "document citation alerts" and lists of reference.
Different tools are available in Scopus :
Author Identifier : to consult publications, citations and co-authors of any author. When you look up an author, the list of results includes the name of the author and all the variants. If two articles or more match with the same author, the page Author Details pops up and presents an overview of the information linked to this author.
Citation Tracker : to look up and to follow the more recent subjects in a field and to watch the research trends. You can evaluate the influence of the research results or of the work of an author by searching the number of saved citations.
From the overview of the citations, you just have to click on the full text articles or on an author you want to study in detail.
H-index (highly-cited index) : created by Professor J. Hirsch from the University of California (San Diego), this measurement system allows you to evaluate the complete work of an author. It takes into account the articles Scopus published after 1995.
The first tab posts a graph with the total number of citations received each year.
The second tab posts the number of articles published by each journal every year.
The third tab indicates the number of citations received for a particular year divided by the total number of documents received that year.
The fourth tab indicates the percentage of documents non quoted in a particular journal. It is calculated yearly.
All the functionalities are explained in detail on the help site.
