Les echos de la recherche
SPRING 2011
EDITORIAL

Svetlana SerdukovDear Colleagues,

Here we are already with issue no. 5 of Les Echos de la Recherche, which is sent to the whole of the RMS academic community, and also to our partner institutions, in particular to the local authorities who are more and more involved with our actions.

The spring of 2011 has been extremely rich in terms of the development of research at RMS, notably thanks to the commitment of the think-tank, a group of about fifteen professors, who have had several meetings to discuss our research positioning in view of the implementation of our next strategic plan.  They have brought new ideas and concrete proposals for the improvement of conditions to encourage fruitful research.  Let me take this opportunity to thank them warmly for their contributions.

I would also like to thank and to congratulate the researchers who have published scholarly articles in peer-review journals, to the authors of books and case studies, the production of which is growing continuously.  The different articles in this issue will help you discover the rich variety of these different publications.
The second important subject of this issue is the activities of the different chairs and the first results of the research centres.  A big thank you goes to the research centre researchers and in particular to the directors who have worked tirelessly since the beginning of the year to launch and to organise their research activities.  Moreover, one of the columns of this newsletter is henceforth devoted to chair and research centre projects.

Another positive point is that invitations to researchers of other universities are becoming more and more widespread in our school.  Each time we welcome a “visiting scholar” a new video is recorded and put on line on the “Research” page of the school’s website. By clicking here you can view our latest video, which will introduce you to the new member of our Scientific Committee, Mark DAVIS, a research professor in the Mathematics Department of Imperial College London.

Enjoy your read!

Svetlana Serdukov
Associate Dean Head of Research
